JOHN TESH RADIO SHOW LAUNCHES “ADOPT A FISHERMAN”
HUMANITARIAN EFFORT IN LOUISIANA TO HELP FAMILIES
WHO HAVE LOST LIVELIHOOD DUE TO OIL SPILL
VENICE, LA – The John Tesh Radio Show has launched a humanitarian effort here to help the many fishermen and their families who have lost their livelihood due to the massive oil spill.
According to media reports, the oil spill has devastated the $2 billion a year Gulf fishing industry, affecting some 27,000 jobs directly. Currently more than 37% of the federal Gulf of Mexico waters are now closed to fishing, covering more than 88,000 sq. miles. To date, over 26,000 claims have been filed for lost income.
The humanitarian effort launched by the John Tesh Radio Show, called “Adopt A Fisherman,” will be centered in Venice, Louisiana (Plaquemines Parish), roughly 75 miles south of New Orleans and considered the Gateway to the Gulf of Mexico. The area is home to many commercial fishermen.
